Our experts primarily work with contractors, building owners, property managers and facilities directors to design and implement reliable life safety solutions. Job Skills / Requirements The Design Engineer/System Designer is responsible for assisting the sales representatives in the preparation of proposal data and drawings, electronic calculations, CAD drawings, and overall project management in certain instances. While the primary function of the role is in design, this position is also expected to be a technical expert and resource on Midwest Alarm’s main lines of work. Candidates can stand out by highlighting their experience in the Fire Alarm and Low Voltage industry. Design proposed electronic systems in final form. Responsible for timely completion of drawings. Responsible for e-filing of all project submittal data and drawings. Develop templates to provide to subcontractors showing rough-in requirements for conduit and wire. Answer electrical contractor questions as required. Travel may be required from time to time. Assist and support Midwest Alarm technicians in the field with project information. Obtain CAD files from architects, engineers or electrical contractors. What You’ll Need High School Diploma or GED NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems or Degree in related field preferred Certification from an accredited CAD program preferred High Technical aptitude At least 1 year experience with security and fire systems Must be able to obtain specified license/certifications to perform work in the security/fire alarm industry according to the rules and regulations prescribed by the State in which the branch operates. Valid driver’s license and submit to pre-employment background check Must understand and use battery drop and voltage drop calculation software.
