Job Description

The Argus Observer in Ontario, Oregon, has an opening for a full-time talented journalist to join our news team, focusing on local government and schools around Malheur County. The position also comes with contributing to lifestyle and human interest stories throughout the Western Treasure Valley.

Community reporters will contribute to daily online content, weekly print content and several specialty publications.

The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, will be flexible and able to

balance assignments and deadlines, will have a keen sense of urgency when it comes to

covering breaking news and will have an eye for visual storytelling. Candidates should also be well-versed in social media. Schedule will vary according to workload and night and weekend work is required.

A journalism or communication degree or equivalent journalism experience is preferred.

The expected starting wage for this role is $18 an hour, but may vary depending on experience and qualifications.
