People and Operations Manager

A leading professional services organization is seeking a People and Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day operations across multiple offices and manage key Human Resources functions. This position combines people leadership, operational excellence, and HR expertise to ensure smooth office operations and a positive employee experience. The role reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer and partners closely with senior leaders in assigned offices. This is a hybrid role with one flexible remote day.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

People Management

  • Supervise administrative and support staff, including paralegals, legal assistants, and secretaries. Manage workload distribution and team assignments.
  • Build strong relationships with team members and leaders to ensure effective collaboration and resolve personnel matters.
  • Oversee recruiting, screening, interviewing, and hiring of administrative staff; coordinate compensation recommendations.
  • Lead onboarding for new hires, ensuring workspace setup, technology readiness, and smooth integration into the team.
  • Manage timekeeping, overtime approvals, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure fair and consistent administration of policies, including performance feedback, corrective action, and terminations as appropriate.
  • Address employee relations concerns in partnership with HR leadership.
  • Coordinate employee transitions and exit procedures.
  • Foster a positive office culture through engagement, recognition, and team-building initiatives.

 

Office Management

  • Oversee daily office operations, collaborating with internal and external service providers to ensure efficient, well-run workplaces.
  • Manage office budgets, purchases, and vendor relationships.
  • Oversee maintenance, equipment, and space planning needs.
  • Partner with leadership and support functions (Accounting, IT, etc.) to ensure operational continuity.
  • Participate in firmwide or office-specific projects, events, and initiatives.
  • Develop and communicate office safety and emergency procedures.

 

Human Resources Management

  • Administer employee benefits and wellness programs.
  • Support HR compliance initiatives and assist with special projects.
  • Provide backup support to the Chief Human Resources Officer as needed.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • 3–5 years of progressively responsible Human Resources and office administration experience, ideally within a professional services or legal environment.
  • Strong understanding of HR processes, office management, and facilities administration.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related systems.
