KPMG - Technology Assurance Audit Associate | Multiple Locations (Summer/Fall 2026) Washington D.C. Overview KPMG is currently seeking a Technology Assurance Audit Associate to join our Audit Services team. Knowledgeable about IT audits, you will help ensure the accuracy and reliability of client financial information while upholding objectivity and independence; contribute to the overall effectiveness of client operations and uphold professional integrity. Responsibilities Work as part of a team to conduct IT audits and support capital markets by ensuring the accuracy and reliability of client financial information, upholding objectivity and independence. Prepare clear and well-structured documentation of clients' processes and information technology (IT) systems, identify IT risk points, and define IT controls that mitigate those risks. Review clients' IT and business processes, risk, controls, and compliance requirements against leading practices, industry or client frameworks to identify gaps in design and execution. Execute and document testing of clients' IT and automated controls, including IT security, programming and governance controls, with clear explanations of procedures and results. Support engagement teams through Data and Analytics (D&A) for audit tasks, including data extraction and analysis; use tools such as Excel, Alteryx, SQL and Power BI, and assist in documenting procedures. Assist with pre- and post-system implementation assessments and digital transformation reviews to support clients’ transitions to new systems and processes; evaluate whether controls are designed and operating effectively and that migrated data is complete, accurate, and reliable. Support project management by assessing and reporting status, tracking deliverables, coordinating action items, and communicating findings and recommendations to engagement teams and client personnel. Learn new and emerging technologies such as cyber, automation, AI, modern ERP systems and blockchain; apply learning to attestation, assessment and external audit engagements. Qualifications Must be pursuing and have obtained by the start date or have completed the following degrees/majors in the past 12 months: Bachelors degree or higher in Management Information Systems, Accounting Information Systems, or equivalent; Information Systems with an Accounting double major is preferred. Preference for candidates pursuing CPA licensure requirements in the principal place of business or pursuing a CISA. Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above. General understanding of business systems and technology, and data analysis techniques. Exposure to ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or Workday is preferred but not required. Strong technical aptitude and critical thinking skills; service mindset; ability to navigate MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook). Excellent communication, time management and leadership skills; agile, flexible and adaptable team player; ability to demonstrate project management skills is a plus. Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office and be able to travel to client locations using own transportation. Technology Assurance professionals are expected to work in-person at a KPMG office or client site on an average of three days per week; some client locations may require travel and overnight stays.
