Job Description

  • Status: Full Time, Exempt (40 hours/week, Monday

Friday, 8:30 – 5:00 pm)

Salary: $80,000-$90,000 annually

  • Benefits: 90% Employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance; life insurance; employer

ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW

The Family Justice Center of Washington County (FJCWC) is the backbone organization for a multidisciplinary collaboration of over 20 co-located agencies, working together to provide holistic services for survivors of violence and abuse in our community. Our mission is to work collaboratively with our community to provide a single location for prevention, intervention, healing and hope for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse in Washington County.

POSITION SUMMARY

FJCWC is seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Development to design and lead the organization’s fund development and communication strategies. This is a unique opportunity to shape the growth of a dynamic nonprofit in alignment with our strategic plan. In partnership with the Executive Director and Board of Directors, the Director of Development is responsible for building and managing a comprehensive development program, including the annual fund, yearend campaign, major donor cultivation, planned giving, grant oversight, and communications strategies to increase community engagement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Individual Giving

  • Design and implement Annual Fund Development Plan, including annual fund, year-end campaign, targeted appeals, and special events.
  • Manage and mentor the Development Manager, ensuring effective execution of fundraising strategies and accurate donor data management.
  • Design and implement a Major Gift Program, capitalizing on the successful completion of the organization's capital campaign.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors, including capital campaign supporters, with an emphasis on donor retention and growth of the major gifts program.
  • Develop and implement a corporate giving strategy, maintaining and growing relationships with corporate partners.
  • Oversee and activity participate in the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of a portfolio of major and planned gifts prospects.

Institutional Giving

  • Lead FJCWC’s grant strategy, including coordinating an annual grant calendar with the Executive Director and consultant.
  • Collaborate on the preparation and submission of foundation, corporate, and government grant proposals.
  • Track, report, and analyze grant activity to ensure compliance and maximize funding opportunities.

Communications & Community Engagement

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and communications plan to increase brand awareness and position FJCWC as a household name in Washington County.
  • Manage multi-channel communications, including social media, email campaigns, media relations, and organizational messaging.
  • Create compelling donor and stakeholder communications, including impact stories, newsletters, and calls to action.
  • Attend community events, meet with donors and stakeholders, and represent FJCWC in public forums.

Leadership & Strategy

  • Work closely with the Development Committee, Board of Directors, and consultants to achieve annual fundraising goals.
  • Manage and guide development department staff and volunteers.
  • Provide accurate, timely development reports for staff and Board leadership.
  • Establish and refine development systems, processes, and best practices to build an efficient, high-functioning department.
  • Partner with the Executive Director and Board on fundraising strategies to achieve annual revenue goals of $1.5M+, with year-over-year increases.

QUALIFICATIOINS & SKILLS

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices, ethics, and donor stewardship.
  • Demonstrated success in nonprofit fundraising, including annual funds, direct mail appeals, events, foundation requests, and major donor cultivation.
  • Strong record of successfully cultivating and securing new revenue from a variety of funders, including corporations, foundations, and individuals.
  • Record of meeting or exceeding annual fundraising goals.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate with broad stakeholders, including board, staff, volunteers, partners, and vendors.
  • High-level project management skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Outstanding writing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in marketing, branding, and leveraging social media to increase organizational visibility.
  • Strong local affiliations and community ties highly preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in fundraising, nonprofit management, communications, sales, communications, or related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of progressively responsible nonprofit fundraising and marketing experience.
  • At least 3 years of demonstrated success in individual and corporate giving.
  • CFRE or ACRFE preferred
  • Must pass pre-employment background check and complete post-hire 40-hour training in DVSA.
