The Chiropractor will fill the Whole Health Clinical Director position located within the office of the Nebraska-Western Iowa Healthcare System (NWI) Associate Director for Patient Care and is a liaison to the National Office of Patient Centered Care and Cultural Transformation (OPCC&CT). The primary purpose of the position is to provide vision, planning, management, and coordination for the implementation of the Whole Health System of Care, Health Promotion, and Integrative Health programs including incorporation and facilitation of broader OPCC&CT initiatives and associated outcome evaluations.
The Chiropractor is responsible for managing an interdisciplinary team of individuals, who will develop and expand integrative health services within NWI, including but not limited to mindful movement practices such as Yoga and Tai Chi, biofeedback, mindfulness classes, meditation practices, Veteran engagement, acupuncture, and health education groups. The incumbent supervises and/or manages others in the provision of integrative health services and may also serve as a direct provider of some services. The incumbent oversees the scheduling of referred Veterans and service provision of integrative health interventions. In addition, maintenance of all integrative health resources including books and equipment are under the purview of the incumbent. The incumbent seeks to develop and maintain outstanding working relationships with staff in all departments and service lines throughout all NWI facilities.
As a provider of care, the Chiropractor is a credentialed and certified Recreational Therapist. The incumbent's role is to develop and implement the Whole Health System of Care, throughout NWI. As this effort involves a significant transformation that is occurring in the VA, this individual will be expected to effectively work with interdisciplinary teams and collaborate with leaders at all levels and staff in all service lines. As an active member of the therapeutic community, the incumbent offers expertise in professional governance to appropriate committees and organizations within VHA, and our academic partners.
The work requires administrative knowledge of VA clinical settings, procedures, and practices, as well as clinical knowledge regarding evidenced based practices for health promotion and engaging patients in self-management strategies and behavioral change. This includes a contemporary knowledge of behavioral science theories and practice including evidence-based practices and techniques. The incumbent must possess the analytical ability to research, assemble, and compile information and data, evaluate the results against appropriate standards, and recommend corrective action where indicated. The incumbent must be knowledgeable regarding program outcome evaluation, particularly in the key domains of outcome evaluation named by OPCC&CT. The work requires an ability to plan and direct work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
