Job Description

Camelia, a chef-driven French Japanese bistro in DTLA's Arts District, seeks a full-time manager to join our team. In its first year open, Camelia was honored to be listed as one of the New York Times' Best Restaurants in Los Angeles, as well as included on Esquire's list of Best New Restaurants 2024.

Our first two restaurants - Tsubaki and OTOTO - are located in Echo Park. Tsubaki has maintained the Michelin Guide's Bib Gourmand designation as well as consistent recognition in the LA Times 101 Best Restaurants list for many years, and OTOTO was honored in 2023 with a James Beard award for Outstanding Beverage Program.


This is a leadership position that will work closely with our chef and partners to refine systems, define service standards, and strive to create something special. The ideal candidate will have managerial experience in a full-service restaurant, passion for food, wine, and sake, excellent communication skills, and a great sense of teamwork. We pride ourselves on offering warm, genuine hospitality to all our guests, and aim to create long-lasting relationships with our neighbors and frequent visitors.

We're looking for someone with:
- immense curiosity and love for food and beverage
- excitement for genuine hospitality and service
- excellent communication skills, both in-person and via email
- an understanding of restaurant financials, P&L fluency
- the ability to recruit, train, and inspire a team
- a focus on problem-solving
- computer and POS literacy (Excel, Resy, etc)
- at least two years of restaurant management experience in a fast-paced, chef-driven dining environment (or similar)

Responsibiltiies will include: 
- providing consistent support to hourly team and maintaining active participation in service
- day-to-day restaurant operations, including opening + closing, cash management, menu maintenance, etc.
- monthly inventory
- dining room scheduling
- exemplify good hospitality within the team, with guests, and with vendors
- work with leadership team to manage inventories
- maintain a safe and healthy facility in line with Health Department guidelines
- collaborate regularly with leadership team to strategize ways to manage restaurant financials
- participate in staff education on food + beverage
